Vineet represents an institutional lineage rarely seen in fast-moving fintech environments: a 14-year career within the Bajaj ecosystem spanning risk underwriting, product development, and digital transformation, reinforced by early credit management foundations at HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank.

Managing Non-Collateralized Risk at Unprecedented Scale

In his previous capacity as Head – Risk, Vineet oversaw an unsecured SME credit portfolio exceeding ₹47,000 crore, primarily encompassing Business Loans and Professional Loans to doctors, chartered accountants, and self-employed entrepreneurs.

Unsecured SME financing represents one of the most operationally demanding asset classes in Indian banking:

  1. Absence of Collateral Backstops: Without physical real estate or asset pledges to enforce recovery, credit losses directly impact the bottom line unless underwriting precision is absolute.
  2. Predictive Underwriting Over Static Scores: Rather than relying exclusively on lagging bureau scores, Vineet’s team led the integration of AI-powered risk initiatives, cross-analyzing real-time GST filings, Account Aggregator banking cash flows, and transactional behavioral data.

The Regulatory and Macro Environment

The elevation arrives as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) continues to emphasize supervisory prudence around unsecured credit expansion. With regulator-mandated risk-weight increases and tighter norms around borrower over-indebtedness, lenders can no longer afford to mask credit deterioration behind rapid book growth.

In this environment, risk teams must operate as predictive Early Warning Systems (EWS), detecting micro-distress in borrower cash flows 60 to 90 days before formal default occurs.
