The performance marks a ~23% year-on-year (YoY) expansion over the ₹350 crore reported in Q2 FY26, comfortably outpacing consensus street estimates of ₹400 crore.

Topline Growth and Operational Resilience

South Indian Bank’s core earnings demonstrated steady momentum across corporate and retail lending franchises:

  • Revenue Milestone: Total revenue rose to ₹2,800 crore, propelled by a sharp increase in interest income to ₹2,796 crore compared to ₹2,407 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
  • Earnings Outperformance: Healthy loan disbursements and disciplined liability management allowed the bank to maintain expanding operating spreads despite broader industry margin normalization.

Benchmark Asset Quality: Net NPA at 0.09%

The defining highlight of South Indian Bank’s Q2 FY27 performance was the dramatic strengthening of its asset quality metrics:

  1. Near-Zero Net NPA: Net Non-Performing Assets (NNPAs) contracted sharply to 0.09%, establishing the lender’s balance sheet as one of the cleanest and most insulated in the Indian banking system.
  2. Gross NPA at 1.24%: Gross NPAs moderated sequentially to 1.24%, reflecting sustained recoveries, low fresh slippages, and aggressive resolution of legacy stressed exposures.
