SBI Mutual Fund, which manages ₹7.5 lakh crore in assets under management, is set to file its IPO prospectus by mid-February with a listing target of April. This marks the first major bank-backed mutual fund to go public in recent years, and the scale of the business underlines why the market is watching closely.
The move comes as India's mutual fund industry posted 40% AUM growth in FY24, reflecting strong retail participation in equity and savings-linked schemes. SBI MF's size—among the top three fund houses in the country—means its public listing will carry weight as a market confidence signal.
