Axis Bank has announced the resignation of its Chief Financial Officer, Puneet Sharma. HDFC Bank has separately confirmed that Sharma will take over as its new CFO starting in December.

Sharma has served as Axis Bank's CFO since 2020, a period during which the bank worked through balance sheet stabilisation.

The move comes as HDFC Bank works to reassure institutional investors following a turbulent post-merger integration phase.

Axis Bank, meanwhile, is in an active growth phase, competing for retail deposits while executing the final stages of its Citi consumer portfolio integration. The departure of its CFO during this period leaves a leadership gap at a sensitive time.
