HDFC Bank has rolled out a two-day work-from-home policy for eligible employees in select departments. The arrangement applies to staff in Business Enabling Functions (BEF) and Corporate Enabling Functions (CEF), allowing them to work remotely up to two days per week.

The policy is not a bank-wide initiative. It remains limited to specific enabling and support functions and does not extend to branch operations or customer-facing roles, where on-site presence remains mandatory.

The arrangement is being trialled for an initial 30-day period. After this evaluation window, HDFC Bank will review the policy's impact on productivity, service delivery, and employee satisfaction before deciding on continuation or wider rollout.

This move signals HDFC Bank's recognition of workplace flexibility as a retention and engagement tool, even as India's banking sector balances hybrid models with the operational demands of branch-based lending and deposit-taking.
