Bank of Baroda has launched bob SAMVAD, an in-house developed AI platform designed to remove language barriers in branch banking. The system enables real-time, two-way communication across 22 Indian languages, allowing customers and staff to interact seamlessly even when they do not share a common language.

Customers can speak or type queries in their preferred language, which the platform instantly translates into the staff member's chosen language—and vice versa. The system leverages AI-driven speech and language technologies to deliver low-latency, natural and contextually accurate conversations.

The platform was launched by M. Nagaraju, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services, signalling government backing for technology-driven and inclusive banking solutions. Bob SAMVAD represents a practical application of AI to address India's linguistic diversity at the operational level.
