Axis Bank has appointed Namrata Dubashi, a former McKinsey & Company leader with nearly two decades of experience in technology-led transformation, to spearhead its enterprise-wide AI strategy.

Dubashi joins the bank's leadership team with a mandate to embed AI across the organisation as a core business capability, not as an isolated technology project.

She will lead a team of around 50 AI specialists, with focus areas spanning customer experience, credit and loan assessment, fraud detection, risk management, and operational efficiency.

The appointment reflects a broader shift in banking: from digital-first transformation to AI-first decision-making, with adoption moving from pilots to enterprise-wide integration across business functions.

Axis Bank's move to create a dedicated AI leadership role positions it among early movers in Indian banking on this front.
