Axis Bank has appointed Rajeev Mantri as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective September 28, 2026. Mantri joins from Bandhan Bank, where he served as CFO.
In banking, the CFO ranks among the most influential decision-makers after the CEO, with direct responsibility for capital allocation, profitability and cost efficiency, investor communication, regulatory compliance, and balance sheet strength.
At Bandhan Bank, Mantri was closely involved in financial management, capital planning, and navigating the evolving regulatory landscape — experience he now brings to Axis Bank.
The appointment comes as private sector banks focus on sustaining profitable growth, accelerating digital transformation, optimizing capital efficiency, and meeting increasingly stringent regulatory expectations.
Leadership transitions at the CFO level are rarely routine. They typically reflect board-level priorities and signal the strategic direction a bank intends to pursue over the coming years.
