Topline Contraction: A Conscious Loan Origination Slowdown

Lendingkart Finance’s operating revenue contracted by 55% year-on-year to ₹52.7 Crore in Q1 FY27, down from ₹116.9 Crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

  • Interest Income: Declined 20% YoY to ₹38.9 Crore (compared to ₹48.6 Crore in Q1 FY26).
  • Fee & Commission Income: Dropped by 78% YoY to ₹15.3 Crore (down from ₹70.1 Crore in Q1 FY26), highlighting reduced origination volumes, distributor pay-outs, and co-lending transaction throughput.
  • Total Revenue: Stood at ₹54.5 Crore, registering a 54.5% drop from ₹119.8 Crore in Q1 FY26.

Sequentially, however, operating revenue managed a modest rebound of 15% over the ₹45.9 Crore recorded in Q4 FY26, suggesting that core disbursals may have reached an inflection point after several quarters of retrenchment.

The Anatomy of the Turnaround: Plunging Credit Costs & ARC Transfer

The dramatic reduction in quarterly loss was underpinned by a 58% YoY drop in overall expenditure, which shrank to ₹97.5 Crore from ₹230.2 Crore in Q1 FY26.

  1. Credit Cost Moderation:
The most impactful operational shift occurred in provisions. Impairment on financial instruments plunged 83% YoY to ₹13.2 Crore, down from a staggering ₹78.5 Crore in Q1 FY26. This reflects both aggressive legacy write-offs executed over the past two fiscal years and a more stringent underwriting filter on fresh disbursals.
  2. Stressed Portfolio Offloading:
During the quarter, Lendingkart transferred stressed non-performing assets (NPAs) with an aggregate principal outstanding of ₹94.7 Crore to an Asset Reconstruction Company (ARC) for an upfront consideration of ₹2 Crore. The transaction resulted in a net fair value loss of ₹70 Lakh and an assignment loss of ₹80 Lakh, allowing the lender to excise persistent bad debts from its balance sheet.
  3. Debt Rationalisation:
Finance costs declined by 53% YoY to ₹26.3 Crore, reflecting trimmed borrowings in line with reduced loan assets under management (AUM). Employee expenses also tapered by 18% to ₹25.4 Crore.
