J&K Bank Conferred ‘Best CSR Overall Practices’ Award in Bengaluru; MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee Reaffirms Sustainable Growth Vision

Jammu & Kashmir Bank (J&K Bank) has been conferred the prestigious ‘Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Overall Practices’ award at the 13th National CSR Leadership Congress & Awards, held at Taj MG Road in Bengaluru.

The national accolade recognizes J&K Bank’s institution-wide transition toward structured, measurable, and need-based social interventions designed to uplift underserved populations across Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and its expanding national operational footprint.

Shadab Mehboob, Zonal Head (Bengaluru), received the award on behalf of the bank during a day-long national summit attended by sustainability directors, corporate leaders, and CSR policymakers from across India.

CSR as Institutional Purpose, Not an Obligation

Commenting on the national recognition, J&K Bank Managing Director & CEO Amitava Chatterjee emphasized that community stewardship forms the bedrock of the bank’s founding charter.

"For J&K Bank, CSR is not a peripheral obligation but an extension of our institutional purpose. This award validates our approach of taking meaningful, need-based interventions to underserved communities, particularly across J&K and Ladakh," Chatterjee said.

He noted that the bank’s CSR portfolio has evolved into a strategic platform for inclusive and sustainable development, prioritizing long-term human capacity building over transactional charity.

The ₹96-Crore Impact Blueprint

Over the last three financial years, J&K Bank has channeled ₹96 crore into community welfare and environmental resilience projects, targeting structural bottlenecks in remote and geographically challenging terrains:

• Frontier Healthcare Access: Deployed mobile diagnostic units providing specialized cardiac and breast cancer screenings in remote border and high-altitude areas where tertiary medical infrastructure is scarce.
• Patient Attendant Relief: Introduced subsidized meal and resting centers for family attendants accompanying patients at major regional referral hospitals.
• Solar Sanitation & Eco-Restoration: Installed solar-powered, zero-discharge public sanitation units along pilgrim corridors and ecological hotspots, coupled with extensive afforestation and community waste-management programs.
• Livelihood Incubation & Inclusion: Spearheaded micro-enterprise training for rural women self-help groups (SHGs), provided assistive aids and vocational training for persons with disabilities, promoted grassroots winter sports in Ladakh, and extended welfare programs to armed forces veterans and their families.
