Elevation Capital has officially closed its ninth India-focused fund at $500 million, bringing its total active deployable capital in India to $900 million. The firm is targeting Seed and Series A startups across sectors including healthcare, finance, and logistics.

The fund's investment thesis marks a deliberate pivot away from foundation model development. Building large language models is capital-intensive and dominated by global tech giants; Elevation Capital sees the real value captured at the application layer instead.

Rather than backing founders competing to build the next GPT-5, Elevation Capital is looking for entrepreneurs who take existing global AI models and wrap them in vertical, proprietary execution engines. These AI-native platforms are designed to own specific business workflows and solve real-world problems.

Alongside AI-focused startups, Elevation Capital is also backing deeptech sectors including space, defense, and robotics. The combined thesis positions the firm to back the next wave of Indian unicorns—platforms that combine AI with domain-specific execution.
