Executive Summary
ESAF Small Finance Bank has announced a strategic partnership with global transaction processing leader Euronet Worldwide to roll out its "Credit Line on UPI" platform, targeted for a commercial go-live in the first quarter of FY28 (Q1 FY28).
The initiative represents the retail lending cornerstone of ESAF SFB’s broader "StratoNeXt" digital transformation program. The launch will follow the completion of the bank’s comprehensive core banking technology migration, scheduled for Q3 FY27, establishing an agile digital infrastructure to distribute pre-sanctioned consumer credit lines directly over UPI rails across semi-urban and rural India.
Technology Architecture & Euronet’s Mandate
Under the strategic agreement, Euronet Worldwide will deliver the critical switching, routing, and middleware architecture required for straight-through credit execution:
- High-Concurrency Payment Switching: Powering sub-second transaction routing, instant credit authorization, and real-time ledger settlement between ESAF's core banking system and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) UPI network.
- Dynamic Credit Line Management: Enabling automated provisioning of pre-approved credit limits, flexible billing cycles, micro-EMI conversion triggers, and straight-through repayment workflows.
- Risk & Fraud Mitigation: Deploying real-time fraud monitoring engines and rule-based risk filters to maintain credit asset quality across high-frequency merchant microtransactions.
